MELANIE KORCZYK

Ideal client:

My ideal clients are both adolescents and adults who are struggling with executive functioning skills such as planning, prioritizing, time management, task initiation, organization, and more. This may look like a failure to get started or a failure to follow through with plans and goals or an inability to “get it together” when it comes to work or school. I have had twenty years of experience in the classroom helping neurotypical and neurodivergent young adults reach their goals and full potential. My coaching strategy incorporates accountability tracking in the form of check ins throughout the week which most people with executive functioning skill deficits need in order to follow through on their plans.

Why do you enjoy being a coach:

I am a helper and creative problem solver by nature. It brings me no end of joy to see the people around me succeed: my greatest successes come in the shape of my clients no longer needing my services. I love to help people think outside the box to find new ways to reach their goals. Because I have worked with so many struggling as well as successful students, I understand that there is no universal strategy for succeeding in work and school, and I love helping people unlock the potential that has always been inside of them.

What is something you want clients to know about you (or your work):

I am a no-judgment zone. Clients can feel comfortable knowing that I love helping them, no matter where they are starting from. I want my clients to be open and honest with me about strategies they are and are not willing to try as well as the time they are willing to put into their goals. No matter what specific situation you are working with, together we can find a plan that works for you.

Favorite quote:

“You don’t have to be perfect, and you don’t have to give up. You simply get to be you.” -Kendra Adachi

Favorite hobbies:

Reading, kayaking, home renovating.

Favorite self-care strategy:

Yoga. Although it sounds cliche, when I am carving out time each day to practice yoga I am far more in tune with my breath and my body. As adults, we often don’t stop to think about how we are feeling until it becomes a problem. Yoga teaches us to stay in touch with our bodies and check in with our minds. When I am consistently practicing yoga I find myself using breathing strategies to calm myself throughout the day without even noticing that I am doing it.
