MAUREEN SCHNEIDER
MA, LPC

Finding help during confusing times can feel overwhelming, and I am here to remind you that you are stronger than you think.  As a former teacher and school counselor, I find joy witnessing the growth that can take place over time, and I continue to be amazed by the strength and resilience of the individuals and families I work with.

Each individual is deserving of acceptance, respect and inner peace.  Attaining these things can be messy and difficult, and as your therapist my role is to walk with you through it, to get to the other side.  Developing an understanding of what you are bringing to therapy both culturally and experientially will determine our path ahead.

Ideal client:

The opportunities for real change are opened when there is a deep desire to heal. Each client needs to work at their own pace and manner, but intent for growth is key.

What is something you want clients to know about you (or your work)

My style is as eclectic as the patients I see, and we will work together to educate ourselves on what works best for you. I use an existential framework to conceptualize my clients’ situations, along with incorporating mindfulness-based CBT with aspects of Motivational Interviewing, DBT, ACT, solution-focused, and humanistic methods to help bring clients to their goals. I have experience working with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, OCD, sexual orientation and gender identity, academic concerns, and relationship difficulties.  I also have experience working with couples, families, and groups.

Why do I like being a therapist?

It is a gift and honor to spend time with individuals, forming unique relationships as we work towards solutions that empower and improve quality of life.
