Your Ideal Client:

Kids going back to school? Having a hard time getting organized? Life transitions? Adjustment to going to college? Low mood? Anxiety and worry? Seasonal depression? Common reactions to trauma impairing daily functioning? I see adults individually who struggle mostly with anxiety, depression, trauma/ stress related matters in their life.

Why do you like being a therapist?

I grew up from humble beginnings and was always intrigued about human behavior. I started in middle school reading books about Psychology. I found being of service to others is my calling. I have been working in the helping profession since 2008, holding positions in Social Work, Substance Abuse Counseling, Clinical Supervision and now as a Licensed Professional Counselor providing more Psychotherapy in private practice.

What’s something you wish people knew about therapy?

It can be scary at first, so I try to create that calm, safe place where you can just be yourself. When we are in a calm state we are more likely to have readiness to socially engage.

My treatment approach is a lot more person-centered. It can take some time to build trust within the therapeutic relationship. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed while using EMDR, and Ego-State Therapy. I may also draw theory from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. Continuing to expand my knowledge of holistic health and energy psychology to help treat trauma, anxiety, and stress.

Hobbies:

I enjoy family time, fishing, hunting, and doing activities outdoors in the summertime. I find more peace of mind being out in nature.

If you weren’t a therapist, what would you be doing?

Probably something in forestry. I love being out in the woods where I find my peace.
